Services

Your Neighborhood Architect. My greatest joy is bringing a thoughtfulness and passion about architecture to bear for clients embedded in their communities. My practice set up to be a resource for everything from simple consultations through to extensive renovations, additions and new constructions. No budget or project is too small — although a few might be too large (let me be the judge)! Professional fees and fee structure depend on the project scope, scale, and complexity. Inquire via email or phone.

A Critical Eye. If you are a firm principle or project leader with a project at a conceptual crossroads I may be able to help. As a practicing architect with a strong working knowledge of permitting, technical design, buildings science, and architectural theory I am able to provide a support and recommendations at the intersection of the technical, the creative, and the discursive.

A Helping Hand. Are you an architect in need of a ringer? As a licensed architect with experience across multiple scales and project types, I am in a unique position to provide qualified assistance at any project phase to other professionals on an as-needed basis, including permitting and architect-of-record services.

Collaborators

Even as a sole practitioner, architectural work always requires collaboration. Thanks to my former business partner Ferdinand Kuznik, with whom I worked under the Pigeon Studio name. And a big thank you to occasional collaborators Olive Ouyang and Daham Marapane for providing design support on ongoing projects!

Beyond Practice

Outside of his work as a practicing architect Keefer is involved with a variety of activist causes in architecture and community organizing efforts local to Chicago. He frequently writes on the intersection of politics and architecture. For more information about Keefer’s academic appointments and publications refer to his curriculum vitae here.
